Le Balcon

Sonntag aus Licht is the final opera in the cycle. Composed up to 2003, it was premiered in 2011. According to Stockhausen, Sunday is the day of Michael and Eva's mystical union, which gives rise to the birth of Monday. From a compositional perspective, Sonntag is the most pared-down piece in the Licht cycle. Among his many ideas, the composer has developed a concept already present in Helikopter-Streichquartett: the dream of multispatial, unitemporal music.
