Le Balcon

Michael returns to his heavenly home. Eva has prepared a festival to celebrate his return. With 5 choirs, 5 orchestral groups and a string orchestra, Eva sings a hymn to his arrival and presents him with heavenly gifts. Lucifer interrupts the festivities, mocks Michael's sentimentality and naiveté, and bitterly disappears. Now alone, in his threefold guise, Michael slowly recalls the episodes of his earthly life. He declares that he has fallen in love with humans, "in spite of Lucifer, in spite of Satan, in spite of everything", and bows to the audience, marking the end of Thursday of Light.
