Le Balcon

Starting with the last of the seven operas in the cycle composed between 1978 and 2003, Maxime Pascal's Balcon soloists invite us, in an intimate format involving hearing, sight and smell, to penetrate the sensitive universe of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Licht.From the unfolding of the week, the German composer (1928-2007) created a vast polyptych in seven operas, each associated with a day, a color, a planet, a precious stone and a perfume. Structured around a language entirely created by the composer - music, dance, gestures and libretto - Licht offers both a re-creation of the world and a magical celebration of the days, their meaning, color and scent. Ensemble Le Balcon and conductor Maxime Pascal have selected Parfums - Symboles, the fourth scene of the last opera, Sonntag aus Licht (Sunday of Light), from this ambitious cycle whose composition, spread over twenty-five years, marked the transition from the 20th to the 21st century, and offer a taste of music, symbols and scents.
